NEW YORK - The Barbados Tourism Authority and BET Jazz came together at New York City's Strata to celebrate the kickoff of the first Jazz Festival of 2006: the Barbados Jazz Festival, January 9-15, Barbados, WI.

Barbados' own saxophonist Arturo Tappin performed a set and welcomed legendary flutist Bobbi Humphrey to the stage.

Among the speakers that evening were Barbados Tourism Authority Director of Marketing, Ms. Averil Beyer, Barbados Consul General Ms. Jessica Odle, VP BET Jazz Mr. Paxton Baker, Barbados Jazz Festival Producer Mr. Gilbert Rowe, and Barbados Tourism Authority National Director of Marketing Mr. Bill Silvermitz.
